Hi, I'm Sierra! Welcome to Homesteading in the Suburbs—a place where I share my journey of learning how to live a more self-sufficient life right from my own backyard. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I worked in the medical field. After becoming pregnant with my first daughter, my husband and I decided that staying home with our children was the best choice for our family. Like many families, we also felt the impact of rising food prices and began looking for ways to become more independent. What started as a simple desire to save money quickly turned into a passion for gardening, raising chickens, preserving food, baking from scratch, and learning new homesteading skills. The only catch? We don't live on a large farm—we live in the suburbs! I'm far from an expert, and that's what this blog is all about. Here you'll find my successes, my failures, and everything I'm learning along the way. My goal is to show that you don't need acres of land or years of experience to start homesteading. With a little creativity, patience, and willingness to learn, anyone can take steps toward a more sustainable lifestyle. Whether you're raising your first chicks, planting your first garden, or simply looking for ways to provide more for your family, I'm glad you're here. Let's learn and grow together! Welcome to the adventure of homesteading in the suburbs.
